Our senses are the key to our heart!

Hej, I'm Lucie!

This story begins in 2011. When I professionally discovered the cosmetic industry in 2011, sustainability or conscious lifestyle were not (yet) relevant topics in the public perception. Cosmetics mainly contributed to getting closer to or even corresponding to certain ideals of beauty. Anti-aging, for example, was a term that developed at this time and has persisted to this day. How does all this affect our minds and the environment in the long run? There was a lack of awareness of this - especially in advertising. As I specialized in content marketing through my editorial background and my passion for language, I was faced with a choice: become a part of this development as well - or find my own way. I decided on the second.

Because there were already a few pioneers who understood that our consumption should not be at the expense of the planet and that more connectedness to nature positively influences our well-being - the so-called natural cosmetics. It captivated me so much that I not only took an aromatherapy course, but also learned from real professionals how to make my own skincare products.

This intense time taught me that body and mind are inseparable. One cannot exist without the other. In 2016, I even had that tattooed on my arm: To be able to grow, our body, mind and soul must have a connection. Lifelong learning, curiosity and courage help us to find and maintain this fragile connection.

As my skin has always been very demanding and easily out of balance, my own skincare products helped me to understand it better. Also, because I was looking at skin as a mirror of our inner selves. Nutrition, mental health, lifestyle, sleep quality, stress levels, hormones - in addition to good skincare, all of these components can affect our skin health. The circle seemed to close: body & mind, the unit.

And there is another passion in BYUTYFUL: traveling. Seeing, smelling and tasting all the beauty in the world, I get closer to myself, to people and to the world. Scents, plants, culinary delights, colors, nature and different ways of life are great sources of inspiration and strength for me. This is why you find "Designed in Berlin, inspired by the world." on all of our products.

Every big change starts with small steps!

Beautiful is a feeling, not an ideal

BYUTYFUL obviously stands for "beautiful". Just written differently, because it contains my story. A story about the connection between body and mind, sensuality and responsibility. A story about "swimming against the current" and "finding oneself" in a society of norms, expectations and ideals. I want to design products that are reduced and colorful, eco-friendly and luxurious, a daily habit and life-changing at the same time. Because that's what - for me personally - cosmetics stand for. The name is meant to invite you to find and live your very own definition of beauty. One that is good for you and that helps you feel byutyful in your skin.

When I travel, I feel connected to the world, to people, to nature and to myself.

Our philosophy

Using cosmetics is something deeply sensual. It’s not just a daily life product with a function, it rather touches our senses. We feel directly connected to something. To feelings, experiences and memories. To ourselves, the world and others. My vision is to raise awareness for the qualities of life that empower us to live a meaningful, wholehearted life. These are, of course, very individual. For me, they include connectedness, joy of life, appreciation, balance, delights, sensuality, creativity and health. This is the essence of BYUTYFUL.

We appreciate each other, the earth and ourselves!

The savoir vivre

SAVOIR comes from "savoir vivre" - the French way of life. I was in Grasse, the city of perfume in the south of France, a few years ago. Mimosas, orange blossoms and roses were blooming everywhere. It was a festival of scents, which I try to capture with this line. I lived in France for a while during my studies. Back then, I loved browsing through French cosmetic stores and departments. With time, I got to know products that were not yet common in Germany - floral waters, for example. French people like to turn time into me-time with beauty care and celebrate small rituals. This curiosity, coupled with a high awareness of quality and an appreciation of nature, is what gives the SAVOIR line its character.

Love & enjoy life, even the simple things!
